ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Honeycomb slate now official

The past couple of months have been all talk about tablets. Android tablets in particular, and with Honeycomb’s launch with the Motorola XOOM, it was inevitable for a bunch of other tablets to make its way.  Keeping our choices wide open.

Well, this this time, its ASUS. They have officially launched the Eee Pad Transformer, a 10.1 incher Honeycomb tab. But this is not just any other tab; this tab comes with an optional removable keyboard, which basically makes it a netbook. A multi-functional tablet would be the right description of the device actually.

The spec sheet too is not bad. Featuring a 10.1-inch 1280×800 IPS panelled display with 10 finger multi-touch support and scratch resistant Gorilla Glass display, a 5MP camera on the back and a 1.3MP camera on the front for video calls, 16 or 32GB of storage, 1GB of RAM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and according to ASUS it provides 9.5 hours of battery back-up and 16 hours with the keyboard/dock.

ASUS hasn’t given out pricing details for the slate in the US, but apparently it will be priced at around €399 in Europe, this is not substantial info though. It could be priced at the range of $400-$500 in the US or even more perhaps.  In conclusion this tab has the all the makings of a great device, if ASUS prices the device appropriately there’s no doubt that this device could flourish.
