Best Buy’s website listed the HTC Flyer as available for pre order when we checked yesterday. The device was originally said to be available for purchase from tomorrow onwards. But now a leaked document shows that the Flyer could be available as early as now. A memo directed towards Best Buy officials states that the HTC Flyer’s ‘hard street date’ has been relaxed which means that Best Buy retailers are supposed to sell the tablet if they have it in stock, if they don’t though they will have to sell them when they get it in stock. This is very good news for those who couldn’t wait till tomorrow to get the device.
The Flyer was priced at $700 in Europe but Best Buy surprised us all by pricing the device at $499. Not that it’s a very reasonable price, but really anything lesser than $500 is a good price. Though bear in mind that this listing is for the Wi-Fi only version of the device. The 7 inch tab is offered with a “Magic Pen” which is said to be that much closer to giving you a real pen like experience; this will cost $80. Which we think is a bit expensive considering that it’s 16% of the whole tablet.
To look at the specs of the device, the Flyer features a 7 inch display with a resolution of 1024 x 600, a 5 MP camera on the back with a 1.3 MP front facing camera, a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU and Android 2.3 Gingerbread with HTC Sense UI optimized for tablets.
