Verizon HTC Trophy Teardown Reveals A microSD card

HTC 7 Trophy

The Verizon HTC Trophy is not a newly launched phone, it has been around since quite some time. If you are a user of the handset or are planning to get one, you would be interested to know that this device only has 16 GB of built in storage and one cannot add his/her own microSD card to the device. But now some humble folks have given the full teardown treatment to the HTC Trophy and something surprising has been revealed. When the device is teared down, one is able to spot a 16 GB microSD card neatly attached in its slot. Which means that users can replace the microSD card and add their own.

Though before doing that, you need to keep some things in mind. Firstly, you need to be sure that this phone will support microSD cards of up to 32 GB, and secondly you need to bear in mind that you do not damage any parts when tearing down the device. Also, by doing this you will be voiding the phone’s warranty, so you will be doing this at your own peril. We recommend you to not try doing it because if you’re unhappy with the phone’s storage, you can always get a different and new handset. But its just not worth it to risk doing this.

Anyhow, it is really strange that HTC does this with the Trophy. Now we’re wondering as to how many other phones have the same system. It must be pointed out though that European models of the HTC Trophy have the same system with a microSD card slot inside. Maybe there are certain limitations to WP7 handsets set up by Microsoft, there’s no way of knowing unless the makers or Microsoft come out clean regarding the issue. Either way, this could well prove to be a deal breaker for a few who were planning to get the device.
