Wi-Fi only version of the HTC Flyer available for pre-order on Cyberport

The Wi-Fi only version of the HTC Flyer has been listed as available for pre order on German retailer Cyberport’s website. The listing also provides the specs of the device.

The Flyer will feature a 7-inch 1024 x 700 resolution display with an active stylus, a 5 MP rear camera with a front facing 1.3 MP camera for video calling, 32 GB of internal storage, a 1.5 GHz CPU, will run on Android with HTC Sense and will not feature 3G support. Though the listing claims that it runs on Android 2.4 Gingerbread, the Flyer doesn’t actually run on that particular OS. It was a typo made by HTC during their MWC announcement, and it seems like the folks at Cyberport have followed in HTC’s footsteps by not rectifying the error.

This price is in direct competition to Amazon Germany who have listed the same device for €669 ($920) whereas Cyberport have listed the device at €499 ($686) without any contract, meaning you own the device permanently. That is a considerable difference in price. According to HTC, this tablet will launch right after the 3G variant hits the store but no official date is available yet. Nobody has any clue as to how much the device would cost when it hits the U.S, guess they’ll have to wait and watch. Either ways, people in Germany have something to look out for in the coming days. But could this tablet compete with some of the latest tablet announcements like the LG Optimus Pad, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 or the Motorola XOOM ? Only time could tell.
